Aina Koa Pono LLC is a Hawai'i-based company specifically geared to develop the non-fossil fuel energy technology arena – in particular in gasification of biomass and in the manufacture of electricity and liquid fuels from this synthetic gas.
Hawai'i is currently more than 85% dependent on imported liquid fuels. The Governor of Hawai'i has shown strong support for getting the State off of oil and onto renewable technologies. A positive step was taken with the signing of the Hawai'i Clean Energy Initiative by the State and the Hawai'ian Electric Company (HECO); the agreement calls for the State to use 40% renewable energy by 2030. Toward this major challenge, the Aina Koa Pono team is working with organizations in Hawai'i to support projects that will revitalize the Hawai'ian agricultural industry, create jobs, and allow Hawai'i to move towards energy self sufficiency.
